Wellesley Island State Park

Wellesley Island State Park, in near by Alexandria Bay, is a rustic paradise for fishing, boating and swimming on the St. Lawrence River. There's even the 9-hole Wellesley Island State Park Golf Course on the Island.

Another major attraction is the Minna Anthony Common Nature Center, that includes educational displays, gift shop and varied habitats. Visitors can explore wooded wetlands, 3 miles of shoreline and open granite outcrops, and miles of trails for year-round enjoyment. Educational and recreational programs are available to explorers of all ages. One extra special feature at the center is its 1/4-mile accessible trail with access to picnic tables and the seasonal butterfly house.

If you're looking for colorful hiking and leaf peeking in the autumn, Wellesley Island State Park is located in an area that is considered among one of the "50 Small Towns Across America with Gorgeous Fall Foliage" (US News & World Report, 10/2017).

In the snowy winter months, the park trails remain open for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
